About Me

My photo
I have had rabbits since I was 6 years old and have such a great passion for them. I took a great interest into the psychology side of it and done extensive studying and research into understanding rabbit behaviour. I have had a number of different breeds and have helped many people train and breed their own rabbits. I have rescued, rehomed and bred. I have also boarded when people have been on holiday. I am absolutely happy to help anyone who has any rabbit questions or queries :)

The Real Rabbit Whisperer - A little background

Some people are dog people, others are cat people. Me? I'm a rabbit person. I guess you could say i always have been. I got my first rabbit when i was 6 years old. It was initially my big brother that wanted one and i can definitely thank him for that. We went to the pet shop to get our rabbits. My brother lost interest, but from that moment on my interest grew. Soon though, i wasn't satisfied with just feeding and cuddling them, i wanted more. I wanted to truly bond with them and understand them. That is why I'm here. I want to help others come to have the same bond with their rabbits just as i have with mine. There is plenty of info on the Internet and in books on how much hay to give your rabbit or what size of hutch to get but not any good incite into their brain. I have seen other people claim to be the rabbit whisperer but the truth is there can only be one. They are the rabbit whisperer yet there biggest articles are on "what it means if your rabbit eats it's own poop?" This is important to know but psychology is so much more.
It is truly knowing and connecting with your rabbit and knowing what goes on in their brain and their true natural instincts. I have studied and researched rabbit psychology for a number of years and i am here to help people who are truly interested in rabbits. Every summer i also hold rabbit training classes, for which i am qualified and i am here to help with any rabbit problems. I also do nail clippings, teeth rasping and help with other medical problems.

Floppsy and Dusty my French Lops

Some of the rabbit language i will discuss applies only to neutered rabbits as it is sometimes different for uneutered rabbits and some of the talking rabbits do with their ears does not apply with lops as they mostly do not move their ears. Soon though, you should hopefully find talking to your rabbit really easy although warn your family as they may drag you to the psychiatrist. WARNING: they may do so anyway! You should be able to call them and they will come running - and not just for food! Feel free to ask me any questions or if you need help with anything.

  1. SO, Are you still out there? Hows life and the Bun-Buns? Id like to know how YOU call your rabbits to come to you. My Big Rex Baby-Mama is wonderful. I've only had her for a month now and what a personality! She easily cones for treats and food, but wont again till the treat has been eaten and that's OK, but what or how do you train? Whats your style? I have a nice enclosed garden space that i look forward to letting her roam in as soon as the remodel is finished. For now she gets to sit in her space and watch all calmly. No kids or others here, just me and the hubby....Shes got a fan to beat the heat and I water down her sitting area if its really hot, and after it dries a bit, she goes and flops there...I cant wait to let her out and join us!

  2. awww thats so nice. i love rexes they are fantastic and ar really good as house rabbits. I still have my lilac lionhead skye and french lop floppsy but sadly her sister Dusty died two months ago. I have been scouring rabbit breeders in scotland to get another rabbit. I am looking for a mini holland lop and have seen a few which i am going to check out. I dont know if their are many pet stores near you but you can purchase these online: they are called scratch and newton ice pods and you freeze them and then your rabbit can lie on it and it keeps them cool. They are fantastic :) its ok that she waits until she has finished her treat but try to swap and change her treats regularly to prevent her getting bored and break the treat into tiny pieces which will allow you to train her quicker as she will eat a small bit quicker and will repeat the trick as she will want to get more of that treat :) feel free to email me for any enquiries you have in regards to baby-mama : therabbitwhisperer@live.co.uk
